Department of Science and Technology Studies
History
In January 1997, the University’s Academic Planning
Committee and the Senate of the University of Malaya
approved the establishment of the Department of
Science and Technology Studies.
Although the Department is the youngest in the
Faculty of Science, it has actually a long history.
The Department started off as the Unit for the
History and Philosophy of Science at the Dean’s
Office, Faculty of Science, as far back as 1975. The
Unit was initiated by the then Vice Chancellor,
Royal Professor Ungku A. Aziz.
