Research Outline
The department has three research thrust
areas:
1) Business, science and technology
policy and innovation management
2) Sociology and Philosophy of
Science
3) Information Science
Research focus includes management of
innovations, economic structural change, industrial
development, science and public policy, indicators for
science and technology, growth and development theory,
evolutionary theory, inclusive and sustainable
development, social innovation, innovation and
organisation, environmental management, philosophy of
religion, religion and science, technology and human
values, agriculture and food, media and journalism in
science and technology.
We have established shared interests and
linkages with colleagues around the world through joint
research project as well as conference and seminar
participation. Collaborations and institutional linkages
created and maintained to enrich research endeavours
include the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS),
Asia Pacific Forum on Ethic and Social Justice (UNESCO
Bangkok), International Science, Technology and
Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation (ISTIC),
the Global Network for Economics of Learning,
Innovation, and Competence Building Systems (GLOBELICS),
Asian Network for Learning, Innovation, and Competence
Building Systems (ASIALICS), National University of
Singapore Entrepreneurship Centre, Waseda University of
Japan, the Royal Society, and International Development
Research Centre (IDRC).
